Halle Berry did get engaged to boyfriend Olivier Martinez in the New Year, backing up previous reports.

Reports emerged last month that Olivier had proposed to the Oscar award-winning actress over the Christmas period, and rumours were fuelled when she was spotted out and about wearing a gold ring on her engagement finger.

However, friends close to the star shot down the rumours and attention waned amid Halle's court case with baby father Gabriel Aubry.

Now, sources have told TMZ that Halle is indeed engaged to Olivier and a wedding will "definitely" take place. 

The website claims that the engagement is significant as Halle has filed a request with a judge to grant permission for her to move to France with her new fiance and daughter Nahla, taking the three-year-old away from her father.

Halle and Olivier are yet to make an official statement regarding the engagement reports.
