Oprah Winfrey has refused to donate money to the Martin Luther King Foundation twice, despite crediting the activist for her career. 

The former talk show queen has long been the most successful and richest black woman for decades, but she has apparently snubbed the memorial more than once. New York Daily News reports that the billionaire had been approached by the project but has repeatedly declined.

The MLK memorial allegedly asked for $1million but when Oprah ignored their requests, they returned with the smaller number of $500,000 but she again refused. The accusations may come as a shock to those who remember Oprah saying in 2008 that she owes King for her achievements.

"I just wouldn't have the life that I have without Martin Luther King Jr," she said.
