Alicia Keys hosted her annual Keep A Child Alive ball in New York City last night and was accompanied by husband Swizz Beatz.

The 'Empire State Of Mind' singer was supported by her celeb peers including Chanel Iman, Queen Latifah who kept it gangster in a suit and trilby, Kerry Washington who stood out in an exaggerated dress and Tyra Banks who looked pretty in purple.

The shock of the night came from Serena Williams who actually dressed well for the red carpet in a figure-hugging floor-length black dress which she teamed with a chunky metallic belt.

La La Vazquez and husband Carmelo Anthony were also in attendance and were all spotted hanging out with Usher. 

Alicia - who managed to raise $400,000 for families affected by HIV/AIDs in India and Africa - said at the event: "We all deserve a chance at life. Tonight really goes to the people. It really goes to the people that we serve, so that they can have the medicine to live."

Guests were treated to performances from Usher, Jay Sean and Will.i.am.
