Pittsburgh emcee Mac Miller is about to be the first rapper in sixteen years to debut at number one on an independent label, with his album Blue Slide Park being projected to shift 100,000 units in the first week.
The Rostrum Records rapper is being back to move huge numbers thanks in part to his massive online following - a combined 2.7m fans over Facebook, MySpace and Twitter - showing their support.
Some are speculating sales could peak as high as 185k by the end of the week, putting him firmly on top of the Billboard 200 charts.
The last album to achieve the same feat was Tha Dogg Pound's Dogg Food, which shipped 278,000 units in its first week.
Blue Slide Park is Mac Miller's first full length project, having already dropped a series of critically acclaimed mixtapes including K.I.D.S. and Best Day Ever.
