The Wire star Idris Elba is reportedly first choice to play Nelson Mandela in an official biopic of the former South African president.
Film blog Flickering Myth claims "reliable sources" have revealed the actor is ready to sign on to the as-yet-untitled project, which is due to start filming in 2012.
