Organisers of the Australia and New Zealand-based music festival Big Day Out claim Eminem turned down a hefty $6 million payday earlier this month, when he was asked to headline the event.
A mark of wealth is perhaps how much money a person can afford to turn down, and in Em's case, it's a lot. In a recent interview, festival chiefs claimed they had eyed up the Detroit rapper as their marquee name, having recently banned another rap act, Odd Future, after an outcry from gay and lesbian groups.
"It was la la land to think he could ever do the Big Day Out, even though we offered $6 million," event promoter Ken West told the New Zealand Herald.
The move is made all the more strange in light of the fact Slim played shows in both Sydney and Melbourne with Lil Wayne earlier this month - he really must not like it Down Under.
