Melanie Amaro has officially signed to L.A. Reid's Epic record label after winning the first series of X Factor USA.
The 19-year-old was in a battle to be signed to either Simon Cowell's Syco imprint or Epic, and fortunately for L.A., she chose the latter. CEO of the label, L.A. also served as a judge on the talent contest and was keen to sign on the powerhouse singer.
"I joined The X Factor to be able to discover undeniable talent such as Melanie," L.A. said in a statement. "I am pleased that she is now signed to Epic Records because I believe we have only scratched the surface on uncovering her talent and her inevitable journey to super-stardom."
Meanwhile, Melanie said she was is "so excited" about her future and described signing to Epic as a "dream come true."
Simon Cowell added in a separate statement: "We all agreed that Epic would be the right fit for Melanie. LA made it clear that he wanted the opportunity to work with her and with his track record, you can't say no to that."
