It may have been received a mixed reception on release but Lupe Fiasco's 2011 album Lasers has managed to break the 500,000 unit mark and receive Gold certification.
The LP took nearly a year to reach the mark despite moving 204,000 copies in its first week – the best first-week sales of Lu’s career.
Lasers was widely criticised on release for its stylistic and thematic diversion away from Lupe’s previous works Food & Liquor and The Cool. In an interview last year Lupe pledged "not to make the same mistakes" with his new work as he had with Lasers.
The 29-year-old lyricist announced a new collaboration project with his Child Rebel Soldiers partner Pharrell Williams earlier this week.
