Following his controversial performance at the Golden Globes last year, Ricky Gervais was given a second chance at the hosting gig for a second time round but still managed to take aim at several stars including Kim Kardashian, Justin Bieber and Eddie Murphy.

The British comedian made sure to make fun out of some of the biggest stories in showbiz last year, and addressed Justin Bieber's highly publicised paternity case. "The only way he could have impregnated a girl was if he borrowed one of Martha Stewart's turkey basters," Ricky quipped.

Taking aim at Kim Kardashian and her 72-day marriage to Kris Humphries, Ricky joked: "I've sat through longer James Cameron acceptance speeches," before adding: "The Golden Globes are to the Oscars what Kim Kardashian is to Kate Middleton.

Comfortable in his own hosting job, Ricky also made light of Eddie Murphy giving up his presenting duties at next month's Oscars, saying: "Eddie Murphy and Adam Sandler between them played all the parts in The Help. I can't believe they're not here. Or maybe they are. They're masters of disguise."
