Ne-Yo has defended the African-American community, saying that they "do not get the credit they deserve" for doing "amazing" things.
The 'Beautiful Monster' crooner is gearing up for the release of his upcoming movie Red Tails, which centers on African-American pilots and has addressed issues surrounding the community and entertainment.
"I feel like we, as African-Americans, have been doing amazing things for a really long time and have not been getting the credit we deserve," he told BET.com.
"This is why I defiantly have to “tip my hat" to George Lucas and Anthony Hemmingway [director]. Lucas has deemed this a “passion project," a story that he has wanted to tell for a really long time. I’m happy to be a part of making history," he continued to explain.
Red Tails is out on January 20 in the US. Do you agree with Ne-Yo's comments?
