Mariah Carey has cleared up confusion as to who her biological mother is, after several reports mistakenly claimed she had visited a jewellery shop belonging to her mum Pat.

When the We Belong Together singer popped into Joan Boyce's jewellers earlier this month, several media outlets described the store as: "Mariah’s parents’ jewelry store."

Joan made of the situation when she congratulated Mariah on her BET Honors award, writing on Twitter: "Did you see they called me your mom again? it’s so silly! You only have one mom and that’s Pat Carey."

Mariah responded: "You’d think after she sang the duet with me last year & performed on my ABC Special in front of millions, people would get it!"

In other news, Mariah has been spending quality time with husband Nick Cannon who is recovering from kidney failure.
