Mary J. Blige has revealed that she is "saddened" after being snubbed by the Academy Awards who did not shortlist her 'Living Proof' track in the 'Best Song' category.
The R&B diva lent her vocals to the lead song from the soundtrack of critically-acclaimed movie The Help, and she was a favourite in the pre-nominations. However, Mary was shocked to learn on Tuesday when the nominations were announced, that she was not included in the category.
Sharing her disappointment with the nods, Mary wrote on Twitter: "I'm so thankful for true fans like you all. It saddens me & feels like the Academy is being mean 2 (sic) only nominate 2 of the 5 slots.."
Five songs are normally selected for this category, but the organisers instead chose two - Bret McKenzie's 'Man or Muppet' from The Muppets and Sergio Mendes' 'Real In Rio' which featured in Rio.
