Mariah Carey will reportedly replace Nicole Scherzinger on X Factor USA, following the controversy surrounding Nicole on the first season.

33-year-old Nicole began the show with a warm reception from viewers, however, it quickly changed throughout the live shows with critics deeming her "self-absorbed." 

The icing on the cake came when she refused to decide whether to send home Rachel Crow or Marcus Canty, resulting in the decision going to deadlock and 13-year-old favourite Rachel to burst into dramatic tears on stage.

Now, PopCrush reports that Mariah is a favourite to replace Nicole on the second series later this year, as she has grown uncomfortable with seeing contestants eliminated from the contest.

MiMi was rumoured to make an appearance last year, but the birth of her twins meant this was not possible. It is also not a secret that she has a close friendship with boss Simon Cowell, who is reportedly keen to get Mariah on board.
