Beyonce and Jay-Z have reportedly chosen Oprah Winfrey as godmother to their newborn daughter Blue Ivy.

The proud new parents have apparently opted out of choosing family members as godparents to their new bundle of joy and instead want to enlist close, influential friends to step up to the plate.

Sources have told MediaTakeOut that Oprah has become a close personal friend to the couple, so it was a no-brainer for them that they would choose her to provide guidance to Blue.

While Kanye West was rumoured to be a godfather, the source claims that Jay's best friend Tyran "Ty Ty" Smith has been asked to take on the role.
