DMX was rushed to hospital and spent four hours in emergency care after becoming violently ill on a flight from Miami.

The Ruff Ryders emcee was on his way to Charlotte, North Carolina when he was taken sick during the flight, say TMZ. As soon as the plane touched down the 41-year-old was driven - by limousine - to Gastonia Memorial Hospital where he was treated for food poisoning.

X later put his health scare down to "bad shrimp" cooked up at his baby mother's house in Florida.

The hospital stay isn't likely to affect DMX's forthcoming reunion with New York supergroup Ruff Ryders, who have planned a nationwide tour this summer.
