Gayle King has shot down rumours that Beyonce and Jay-Z have chosen Oprah Winfrey as godmother to their newborn daughter Blue Ivy. 

Reports emerged earlier this week that the first time parents had decided against choosing family members as godparents, and instead elected close friend Oprah and Jay's best friend Ty Ty.

However, Oprah's best gal pal Gayle King has denied that the talk show queen knows anything about becoming a godmother and has not even sent Bey and Jay a present for the baby as she is currently in South Africa.

"It’s absolutely not true that she’s the godmother. She’s friends with them, of course, and likes them both very much," Gayle told CBS' This Morning.

"She’s working on sending them a baby gift. She hasn’t even had time to send a baby gift because she’s been away. Let me just say, if [that report is] true, it is news to her. It is news to her. You know, she was heading to South Africa when the baby was born."
