Nick Cannon is reportedly not keen on wife Mariah Carey joining X Factor USA judging panel as she is "too legendary."

Show boss Simon Cowell went on an axing spree earlier this week, giving Nicole Scherzinger, Paula Abdul and host Steve Jones the boot from the talent contest. It was previously rumoured that Mariah had been chosen to join him on the show, and sources now say she is a front-runner.

"Simon wants nothing but the best for the X Factor - and Mariah is the best," a source told The Mirror.

However, Mariah's husband Nick is none too pleased by his wife's next possible career move. 

A source has quoted him as saying: "Why would my wife want to be on a show like that? For somebody who has a legendary career, I don't know why they would."
