Amy Winehouse's family are "very shocked" by the resignation of the coroner who oversaw over the investigation into the singer's death.
It was revealed yesterday that Suzanne Greenaway was not fully qualified as a coroner as she did not meet the specific requirements, and she had been forced to resign over the situation.
Australian-native Greenaway presided over 30 inquests, including Amy's, but it is believed the verdict into her death is could be illegal.
"We were very shocked when we were informed the coroner was not suitably qualified," Amy's father Mitch told The Sun.
"It's hard to believe her credentials weren't fully checked. You'd assume this sort of thing can't happen."
"We've been informed the coroner was taking guidance from more experienced professionals and the verdict doesn't appear to be in any doubt, but it's upsetting to have to go through all this again. We just hope that matters can be resolved soon."
Amy died at her home on July 23, 2011, and her death was ruled a misadventure following an alcohol binge.
