M.I.A.'s camp have blamed the rude gesture she made at last weekend's Super Bowl on "adrenaline," and that she was "caught in the moment."
The rapper sparked outrage during her performance with Madonna and Nicki Minaj for their new single 'Give Me All Your Luvin',' when she sang: "I don't give a s**t," and held one finger up to the audience.
Broadcaster NBC were forced to apologise for her outburst and said they were too late in blocking out the incident as the sports event was broadcast live.
While M.I.A. is yet to address the incident herself, a member of her camp told TMZ that she is sorry for her actions.
"She wasn't thinking. It wasn't any kind of statement. She was caught in the moment and she's incredibly sorry," they said.
