Beyonce and Jay-Z have trademarked their daughter Blue Ivy's name, following multiple companies using the name to sell their products.
The couple welcomed their daughter on January 7 and, of course, attention was focused on the unusual name they chose for their first child. It didn't take long for several companies to use the name in the hope that the hype would sell their products.
Now, Bey and Jay have submitted an application to the US Patent and Trademark Office in order to own the rights to the name as they hope to launch a baby line under Blue Ivy.
According to the Washington Post, the line would consist of "baby carriages, baby cosmetics, diaper bags, and other undoubtedly fabulous accoutrements for the fashion-forward infant."
Beyonce and Jay-Z's reps are yet to make an official comment regarding the trademark claims.
Is it extreme for the couple to trademark the name?
