Old school meets new in a fun new promo for the 54th annual Grammy awards starring Nicki Minaj and LL Cool J.

Cool J kicks an impressive beatboxing loop for the Young Money diva to drop a freestyle over, but, not feeling that '80s boom bap, Nicki just decides to dance her ass off instead.

Last month NCIS: Los Angeles star, LL - real name James Todd Smith - was announced as the ceremony's first official host in seven years.

Nicki will be taking part in Sunday's awards bash herself, following up last week's controversial Super Bowl halftime performance with Madonna and M.I.A. by dueting with French DJ David Guetta on his new single 'Turn Me On.'

The Pink Friday star will be hoping she gets to hit the stage more than once on the night, as she's also up for three awards: Best Rap Performance, Best Rap Album and Best New Artist.
