Rick Ross is being hauled back to court by his one-time idol 'Freeway' Rick Ross for copyright infringement over the name.

The row over the Ross moniker has been going on since 2010, when Freeway Rick originally filed a $10m lawsuit, claiming Rozay was unfairly profiting from his name. Although a judge later dimissed the suit, HipHopBlog claim Freeway has brought the battle back to the courts.

Freeway is rumoured to have refiled the case after a recent meeting with his rap alter-ego, in which the confident Maybach Music Group boss "sneered" at him and gave him "dirty looks", despite previously attempting to befriend the drug trafficker when he was still in jail.

"[He] treated me as if I had done something to him. When he first came to me, he didn't know what position I was going to take, if I was going to send a word out to those young cats out in L.A. or not. That put a little fear in his heart," Freeway Rick told the Huffington Post of the meeting.

"But now that he knows I'm not carrying it like that, he's a little more courageous right now."

Freeway was sentenced to life back in 1996 after being convicted of trying to buy 100kg of cocaine from a federal agent, with the sentence being commuted to 20 years and the 52-year-old later being released in 2009.

He is thought to have made more than $600m controlling L.A.'s drug trader in the early '80s.
