Cash Money Records head Birdman has confirmed his interest in rap newcomer Chief Keef, as well as giving his thoughts on new signee Mystikal's recent return to prison.
The Stunnaman has been linked with a move for 16-year-old Keef since the Chicago-based teen posted a celebratory message on his Twitter account earlier this week.
Speaking to Complex magazine, Birdman admitted he'd been in touch, but didn't expand on the details on a formal contract offering. "I like young boy Chief. I think he's a great young talent. I sent my hand out to him," he said, adding, "We'll see what happens."
Mystikal's three-month sentence for parole violation earlier this month also came up in the discussion, with the Cash Money mogul staying upbeat about the news.
"S**t happens, bruh. All I can do and all we can do as a brand is just support him. When a nigga doing time, it's important that families be there."
"We do as much music as we can before he go, if he have to go, but besides that, when he come home, it's right back at it."
The 43-year-old New Orleanian also dismissed accusations of Lil Wayne falling off and Nicki Minaj's impending retirement, saying: "We do music for people who appreciate it. That's all we can do. Keep working hard, keep grinding."
"Everybody is entitled to their opinion but we do what we do. We sell millions of records."
