Eccentric star, Janelle Monae has said that one of her main aims is to help young girls become happy with themselves
In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, the singer, who is now signed to P Diddy's label, said: "It's time to redefine what sexy can be, and what a woman can wear, how she wears her hair, what shoes she chooses."
Monae added: "I'm about uniting and helping people become comfortable with who they are. Because there are young girls out there right now going through identity crises."
The singer has said that hip hop mogul, P Diddy, has helped champion her vision. She said: "It takes a Puff. It takes somebody to be your champion. We know he'll stand up for us, for our art. And you can't say that Puff is a small-idea kind of guy."
Have you heard her album - 'The ArchAndroid: Suites II and III'? What are your thoughts? Do you think Janelle Monae is a good role model for young girls or is she saying what every new artist says?
