Remember that trend circling a few months back labelled ''planking,'' whereby people would lay face down, legs and arms folded by their side in a bid to balance in the strangest of places, from benches to cars? Well there's a new trend in town, and it's called 'Trayvoning.'
We kid you not. It seems this new Internet meme seems to have caught on quickly, whereby people in hoodies, laid out as if they were dead, with an Arizona canned tea and pack of Skittles nearby (the same items Trayvon Martin purchased before his death) would pose.
Quickmeme.com says all you need to 'Trayvon' is "a hoodie and some skittles," and "even a black guy can go Trayvoning."
Not only can this be deemed disturbing, it also appears to have no purpose other than to trivialize and mock the death of the slain teen.
Trayvon Martin was shot dead on February 26 by neighbourhood watchman George Zimmerman in Sanford, Florida.
His death led to public outcry from both the public as well as celebrities.
One thing is for sure, Martin's death was a tragedy and shouldn't be made light with disturbing images of the way the 17-year-old lost his life.
We hope this sick fad dies down soon....
