Ne-Yo has revealed he turned down an amazing opportunity to play Martin Luther King Jr. in a new movie as he didn't want to gain weight.
The 'Let Me Love You' singer has been making a big splash in the silver screen, starring in big box office movies, Red Tails and Battle: Los Angeles. However, Ne-Yo reveals he did the unthinkable when he was offered the role of most black actors' dreams - to play civil rights leader King in a biopic.
"I definitely want to do more acting but it's got to make sense with the music. I recently had to turn down an amazing opportunity to be in a movie playing Martin Luther King," Ne-Yo told the Sunday Mirror.
"They wanted to start shooting at the time my album R.E.D. comes out and wanted me to gain 30 pounds, so I couldn't do it. I'm kicking myself but acting can't take the place of my music. Plus, I've been killing myself in the gym for months preparing for this album because I wanted a complete makeover."
Ne-Yo, whose forthcoming album R.E.D. drops in September, has certainly bulked up in recent months, but did he make the right decision choosing music over movies?
