According to Reuters, The Grammys are changing its rules so that it can feature artists, like Lady Gaga, that it has snubbed in recent years.

The decision makers have said that it's changing the eligibility rules for the best new artist category so that successful artists like Lady Gaga won't be excluded again.

Last year she wasn't considered for the award because she had be nominated in a different category in 2008. This is despite being one of the biggest new artists on the scene.

The Recording Academy has now stated that the previous nomination won't affect a best new artist nomination. So, they are finally taking notice of people releasing their first singles before their album is released, or where artists have collaborated on other people's tracks.

Even though the academy didn't specifically mention Lady Gaga, if you look at last year, she was nominated for five awards but was excluded from the best new artist category because she had been nominated for 'Just Dance' in the dance category in 2008.

Last year, Zac Brown Band won the best new artist award.... who?

What do you think of the rule change? Do you think they're finally getting with the times?
