Morgan Freeman is said to be in good spirits after suffering a broken arm, broken elbow and minor shoulder damage in a car crash at the weekend.
As previously reported on TaleTela, the veteran actor was airlifted to hospital on Sunday after the smash near his home in Charleston.
Freeman and his passenger, Demaris Meyer, had to be cut free from the wreck after it overturned several times and landed upside down in a ditch.
Early reports from the Regional Medical Centre in Memphis suggested the Hollywood star was in a serious condition but his spokesman has now confirmed he is not as bad as first thought.
"He is having a little bit of surgery this afternoon or tomorrow to help correct the damage," his spokeswoman Donna Lee said. "He says he'll be OK and is looking forward to a full recovery.”
An investigation into the crash, which involved no other vehicles, is now set to take place with witnesses saying the driving conditions at the time were extremely difficult.
Bill Rogers, who witnessed the crash, told the BBC: "We had a rain storm that had just passed and so the highway was wet," he said. "We were standing in water in the ditch."
"When he became conscious Mr Freeman began asking the same questions over and over again: 'Was I speeding, can I lay on the ground? Is everybody okay?'" Mr Rogers added.
