As Janet Jackson has become the latest style icon to front Blackglama, a luxury fur company, the star has been slammed by animal rights groups.

A PETA representative said: “It’s amazing what celebrities will do when their careers are on a downslide, but we didn’t think that Janet was this desperate…Surely she knows enough about suffering and unjustified death to recognize that both occur in the production of a fur coat.”

Jackson joins celebrities like Liza Minelli, Ray Charles, Diana Ross and Elizabeth Taylor as just some of the celebs to become a spokesmodel for the brand.

As TaleTela mentioned before, the campaign will spread from billboards, to online and print featuring in magazines such as Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, Vanity Fair and W.

While she has yet to respond to the animal rights groups, she did talk about her 'legend' status after joining the list of celebrities, she said: “I have too much to accomplish to be considered a Legend…”
