Eminem has revealed that he turned to superstar Elton John for help with his drug addiction and he also admitted that the 'Your Song' singer still calls him at least once a week to check on him.

In an interview with Spin magazine, the 'Love The Way You Lie' rapper said that they keep in touch each week.

He said: "Elton John calls me once a week. He used to tell me stuff like, 'You're going to start seeing certain things you've been overlooking'. “And it came true. I'd walk around like, 'Damn, that tree does look crazy, look at all those leaves!' Things I didn't notice when I was f**ked up."

Eminem battled with drug addiction after he became hooked on prescription drugs and was forced to cancel the European leg of his 2005 tour so that he could be admitted into rehab.

The rapper performed 'Stan' with Elton at the 2001 Grammy Awards but it was only three years later that Eminem reached out to him for help.

He said: "When I first wanted to get sober, I called [Elton] and spoke to him about it. He's somebody who's in the business and can identify and relate to the lifestyle and how hectic things can be. He understands... the pressure and any other reasons that you want to come up with for doing drugs."

Slim Shady added: "I reached out to him and told him, 'Look, I'm going through a problem and I need your advice'."
