Rick Ross refused to flee from a recent charity event he was hosting in his native Miami, Florida when gunshots were fired, because he felt obliged to stick around for his fans.
The Hustlin' star was attending the Second Annual Rick Ross Be Out Day on Wednesday when the Carol City Park event was disrupted by a gunman across the street.
The shooting took place just moments before Ross and his Poe Boy Entertainment crew were due to hit the stage, and while many attendees ran for safety, Ross chose to stay behind - so the community event could end on a positive note.
He told AllHipHop.com, "Some of these people were here before the event started, I couldn't leave them hanging because of any disturbance.
"I'm glad no one was hurt and most importantly I'm glad we were able to provide the Carol City Community with some needed services."
The Rick Ross Be Out organisation aims to provide local children with essential back-to-school items.
Police have arrested one man over the incident, while another assailant remains at large.
