Tiger Woods has sent his best wishes to his now ex-wife and mother of his two children Elin Nordegren, according to People magazine.

The couple had their divorce after a six year marriage finalised on Monday this week (23 August).

In a press conference at The Barclays golf tournament in New Jersey on Wednesday, the shamed golfer said that he was going to work with his ex-wife on doing the best for their children, Sam, 3, and 19-month-old Charlie.

Woods said: "I wish her the best in everything. It's a sad time in our lives. And we're looking forward to how we can help our kids the best way we possibly can. And that's the most important thing."

Nordegren recently talked to People magazine in her first and only interview addressing her relationship and divorce from Tiger Woods said that she "has been through hell".
