American football star Troy Polamalu has apparently insured his hair for a massive $1 million.

The Pittsburgh Steelers player is famous for his crazy luscisious mane had the policy taken out with Lloyds of London by Procter & Gamble so that he can continue to promote its Head & Shoulders range.

Polamalu, 29, claims that he hasn't cut his hair since 2000, had his hair tugged during a 2006 game when he was prevented from scoring a touchdown when Larry Johnson from the Kansas City Chiefs.

Procter & Gamble said: "They've created the first ever insurance policy to protect his iconic mane for the entire NFL season."

Neither company would comment on what damage could be caused to Polamalu's hair which could enable a claim.

Apparently his hair is so long and thick that end to end it spans 100 football fields... crazy talk.
