R&B singer Ne-Yo has denied the rumours that have been shooting around about him being engaged to long time partner Monyetta Shaw.

Hearts everywhere may have been breaking at the rumour that surfaced since the singer announced that the couple will be expected their first child. However, the 'Closer' singer admitted that he is "not ready" for marriage

In an interview with Cleveland radio station 107.9 FM, Ne-Yo said : "I am not engaged to be married but I am about to have my first child. I was never engaged. I’m having a child with my best friend on the face of the planet. She’s a beautiful person and yes, we’re about to have a baby. We are not engaged, we have never been engaged."

The singer continued, expressing how he felt about the rumours and comments that had been made about his relationship to Shaw.

He said: "A lot of people have different opinions about our relationship but I’ll put it to you like this - she knows where my heart is at. She thinks like me - your soul is the driver and your body is the car, as long as I know where your soul is at, as long as I know where your heart is at, I don’t give a damn about the car."

Adding how understanding Shaw is about his feelings towards marriage, the 'Beautiful Monster' said: "Plus, she knows that I’m not out here sl*tting out every night either. She’s not tripping off trying to make me be anything that I am not ready to be. She’s not tripping off titles. She’s like, 'I know where your heart is at, you tell me that it's love and I believe you,' and she knows that it's love because she gets everything."

The singer also said "I’m not ready to go there yet. I’m not ready yet. I can be 100 percent honest with her and the whole world when I say, 'I’m not ready to go there yet.' The last thing that I’m gonna do is claim that I’m ready to go there and then mess it up. I’m gonna wait until I’m all the way ready. She’s being patient with me so we’re good! It is where it is!"
