Lawyers of rapper T.I., who has previously had run-ins with the law, are uncertain of whether or not the star will be forced to go back to prison since he was arrested recently on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance.

Atlanta born T.I. was previously convicted of violating the possession of a controlled substance act in 1998 and was also subjected to some prison time back in 2007 for felony gun charges and is currently on three year probation, however, some of his lawyers have said that it is unknown whether his arrest on Wednesday night will be detrimental to his probation.

Don Samuel, one of the rapper's lawyers, told the Atlanta Journal Constitution: "It's almost certain he'll end up appearing before the court here. But without knowing all the facts, it's premature to speculate what the court is likely to do."

Another of his lawyers, Dwight Thomas confirmed this with The Associated Press: "We don't have a full grasp of the facts, circumstances. We don't know the violation. I will remain optimistic until this matter is favorably resolved."

The multi-talented star who is also a film maker and producer, amongst other things, was arrested with his wife Tameka 'Tiny' Cottle after a search of the rappers car was done after he made an illegal U-Turn, was stopped by the police and after they smelled what they thought was marijuana coming from the car.

T.I.'s defense attorney Ed Garland said: "We're not making any observations at this time."

Before adding: "This is an unfortunate occurrence, and we do not know what the outcome will be."
