Soulja Boy has admitted that even though he was hungry for fame, he is scared of the consequences of rumours circulated in the media.

The 'Crank That (Soulja Boy)' rapper has recently been in the centre of controversy following his alleged liasions with serial-groupie Kat Stacks.

Stacks exposed her relationship with the rapper by secretly filming their 'get-togethers' and posting the footage online.

In an interview with MTV News US, Soulja Boy talked about how difficult it is being the centre of rumours that are fired up through the media.

He said: "To be honest with you, sometimes when you sit and think about it, it can get scary. You know what I mean? It's like the media can create a lie and sway, like, 80 percent of the general population to believe it.

"And there's really not anything I can do about it but deny it and denounce it — but when you got them pushing forward and just steady trying to embed in people's heads, there's nothing you can do about it."

The Chicago rapper admitted that he didn't ever consider that there was this side to fame before he reached his celebrity status.

Soulja Boy explained: "That sometimes scares me, because I never thought about that getting in the game. I was just thinking about the music and doing my thing. I never thought about having to deal with or trying to fight a lie or something created by the media. I don't know. It's something new. There's a first time for everything."

Even though the rumours are still circulating about his supposed engagement to model Rosa Acosta, and his beef with rapper Fabolous and not to forget the revelation that his alleged stash of cocaine was filmed by Kat Stacks, Soulja Boy says that his music and work will keep his head above the water.

The rapper: "At the end of the day, I feel like the work ethic or anything can defend me against any allegations. You know what I'm saying? You see me on the BET red carpet. You see me doing my thing. You see me staying consistent with the music, staying with working with bigger and better artists in hip hop. I think that speaks for itself."
