P Miller has launched a rival to BET called Better Black Television that will focus on providing “positive” viewing for the black community.
The rapper, who recently changed his name from Master P to Master P, announced the first details of the new cable network on Thursday.
Of the project he said: "I believe that there is a market in our community for a new diverse network that provides a new brand of superior programming that caters to all aspects of television, from reality to original programming."
Miller has already roped in the likes of Denzel Washington, Derek Anderson and DJ Kool Herc to join the board of directors.
Although BBTV will be in direct competition with BET he says he still has “a great relationship” with the network.
BBTV is set to launch in 2009.
