She was confused...

Whoopi Goldberg made an apology to The New York Times after she branded an article about black Oscar winners "sloppy" because it failed to mention her.

'The View' host was clearly disgruntled by the omission and the publication bosses claimed that the actress must have read the article "incorrectly".

Goldberg talked about the piece, which was written by Manohla Dargis and A.O. Scott, during the panel show on Monday and claimed that the article seemed to suggest that only seven African-Americans had won an Academy Award as it referenced winners like Halle Berry and Denzel Washington but failed to mention her win for 'Best Supporting Actress' in 1981 for her role in 'Ghost'.

But, the editors of the publication defended the writers and said in statement: "The error lies with those who are ready the story incorrectly.

"The point of the piece was not to name every black actor or actress who has been awarded an Oscar; it was to draw a comparison between the number who won prior to 2002 (the year Halle Berry and Denzel Washington won) and those who have won since. The story states very clearly that in 73 years, priot to 2002, only secen black actors/actresses won Oscars."

Goldberg addressed the article again during yesterday's show of The View, and claimed that the article was "confusing" but that ultimately she was wrong for blasting the writers.

She said: "I personally found the article really confusing, and as I said, I was also quite hurt that Cuba Gooding Jr., Louis Gossett, Jr. and myself were not included in this expose about black Hollywood. But for saying it was shoddy reporting, I apologise New York Times."
