Shakira has finally worked up the nerve to confirm her relationship with Spanish footballer Gerard Pique after months of speculation.

The pair have been linked together since they met on the set of her music video for the World Cup song last year but have denied their romantic relationship.

The 'Hips Don't Lie' singer, 34, didn't cash in on magazine deals or release a statement through her PR, instead she posted a snap of herself with her new man on Twitter.

The pair look gorgeous together and in spanish, the Colombian singer wrote: "I present to you my sunshine."

The couple have been snapped together holding hands and kissing in Barcelona but they have tried to deny their romance, but Shakira has taken the matter into her own hands and announced their new relationship.

Shakira officially announced the end of her 11-year relationship with Antonio de la Rua last year after rumours were circulating that he was cheating on her.

It was only last month that Pique, 24, posted a picture on Facebook of Shakira helping to celebrate his birthday with his friends.

Pique had even told the press: "We're just friends. There's nothing more to it." Well, if you believed that....
