Mathew Knowles has spoken for the first time since news that he was no longer Beyonce's manager was announced last month.
Many speculated about the real reason behind the split, but it turns out that his daughter just wanted to control her own empire. When asked how the split came about in a candid interview with Black Enterprise, Mathew said that “the transition started way before the official announcement.”
Knowles explained: “If you're strategic, which we are, you don't make a decision like that before you start the dialogue. That dialogue started nine months ago. At the end of the day, I'm Beyonce's father first and her manager second.”
The business separation was announced at the end of March and both Mathew and Beyonce released statements explaining the move. In her statement, Beyonce said: “He is my father for life and I love my dad dearly. I grew up watching both he and my mother manage and own their businesses ... and I will continue to follow in their footsteps.”
It has since been rumoured that the 'Single Ladies' singer has now signed on to rapper husband Jay Z's Roc Nation management, although this is yet to be confirmed.
Meanwhile, Beyonce is busy shooting the video for up-coming single 'Girl', which will feature 200 African dancers.
