Shakira has denied that she had a ring stolen from a fan while performing in Mexico last week.

The 'Hips Don't Lie' singer has claimed that the reports that suggested a fan had robbed her jewellery while she reached out to her audience are false.

Video footage from the incident shows Shakira shaking hands with a fan, but then looking shocked as she looked down at her hand as if something was missing or she had been hurt.

A representative for the Colombian star has denied that the ring had been stolen.

In a statement to TMZ, they said: "There is no truth in this report. A fan grabbed her hand and she looked down. Her ring is still visible on her hand as she continued to walk through the crowd."
