Comedian Tracy Morgan is often not far from controversy, but this time the '30 Rock' star has incensed even his own fans as he launched an offensive tirade against the gay community.

During his sold-out show in Nashville last week, Morgan launched the homophobic diatribe stunning his audience at the Ryman Auditorium, reports Hollywood Gossip.

The Emmy-award nominated actor reportedly said: "Gays need to quit being pussies and not be whining about something as insignificant as bullying."

It has been reported that Morgan suggested that being gay is something that children "learn from the media and programming" but if his son talked to him "in a gay voice" then he would stab him.

Several audience members reportedly walked out of the screening after the homophobic remarks.

The venue decided to issue a statement as an apology to the audience members who found the routine offensive, they said: "The Ryman Auditorium regrets that people were offended by statements made by Tracy Morgan during his June 3 appearance. The Ryman does not control the content presented by people appearing on its stage, nor does it endorse any of the views of, or statements made by, such persons".
