X Factor stars Rebecca Ferguson and One Direction's Zayn Malik have split up and are no longer a couple, and it looks as if Ferguson was the one to call time on their relationship.

The couple began dating earlier this year after getting to know each other on the show, and caused uproar because of their six year age gap.

But Ferguson, who is yet to release a debut single, has said that she's split from the 18-year-old so that she could concentrate on her family and music.

On Twitter, the 25-year-old wrote: "Im happy to say ive decided to be single my children my family and my career are now my world!! (sic)"

Now the messages have been deleted from Twitter but Ferguson was seen celebrating her 25th birthday this weekend without Malik.
