Jill Scott and Chilli have become embroiled in a debate on Twitter over whether or not open relationships are acceptable.

Soul songstress Jill admitted to her Twitter followers that she was considering trying open relationships, writing: "What do you think about open relationships? Been considering. Many friends are making it work. Not sure if I'm that girl but not sure if I'm not. Sometimes there's an understanding that nobody else gets."

The 'Shame' singer added: "Ok. Try this, the love of your life cheats and is honest about it. Your life with him/her is everything you want but monogamous. Do you stay? Ima say this. If YOU can handle it, it's yours to handle. Other people's judgement matters not in this one life you have. Life is not black & pink."

Jilly from Philly's tweets caught the attention of Chilli, one-third of the girl group TLC, who wasted no time in telling her what she thinks. Chilli wrote: "Hell naw to open relationships!!!"

She then replied to another Twitter user: "@actorbrainwhite or just trying to please her wack ass boyfriend! Be strong and get the heck outta there! Your life and self respect is depending on it."

Clearly concerned that her friend was going to take the plunge, Chilli wrote to Jill: "I'm about to call you cuz you can't be in nobody's open relationships!! Talk about a horrible situation!!! So answer your phone!!"

Jill has been single for the past couple of years and recently admitted that she had given up on celibacy.
