Cee Lo Green has admitted that he was left "speechless" when he was offered the role in the upcoming Wu-Tang Clan biopic as Raekwon's father.

The 'F**k You!' singer will be playing the part in the new film, which has been called 'C.R.E.A.M.', which was named after the group's 1994 hit.

Cee Lo revealed that he's been friends with Raekwon for years, so was "flattered" to have been offered the role of playing his father and views it as an "opportunity".

In an interview with Parade magazine, the singer said: "Me and Raekwon have been friends for quite a while. He dropped this opportunity on me and I was just so flattered. I was speechless that he would ask me to play such a significant role in his life. "

He continued: "Our careers started out around the same time, and people were always likening us to each other since we have similar features. He's kind of always been my play brother, so it kind of makes sense [for me to play this role]. I'm excited about it. I would really love to do a good job and really honour him."

Raekwon also discussed the upcoming project and was the first to drop the news that Cee Lo was to play his father. In the interview with XXL magazine, the rapper said: "Cee Lo Green [is] playing my pops in the film. Cee Lo is gon' play Raekwon's ol' dad!

"[He's] a good friend of mine. When I called him and told him about it he was just overwhelmed. He's just one out of the greats that's gonna be on the project."
