Actor and singer Jamie Foxx came up with the idea for new animated movie ‘Welcome to the Jungle’ whilst on a safari trip in South Africa.
After multiple trips to the luxury Singita game reserve last year Foxx came up with the pitch for ‘Welcome to the Jungle.’ Speaking to The Daily Star Foxx said:“I got addicted to the safari! We stayed over there so long that I actually started writing it down and I actually sold that to Fox”
The ‘Ray’ star explains project will be different from everything he has ever done before, “It’s about this musical, like all these animals in the Singita, like vaudeville and old school, because I started getting bored... I play this leopard and... we do a musical in the jungle.”
Grammy winning R’n’B crooner Foxx, 43 in collaboration with 20th Century Fox Animation will star in and write the score to the feature in his first foray into feature film animation. The ‘Ray’ star has already begun working on the project expected to be released sometime in 2012.
