US rapper Akon must complete 65 hours of community service after he pleaded guilty to throwing a fan off stage during a concert.
Akon admitted to harassing the fan at the Dutchess Stadium in New York in June 2007.
The rapper will not face jail as long as he completes his community service and pays a $250 fine, the Associated Press news agency reports.
Akon was provoked after he was apparently hit by a missile thrown from within the crowd at the Dutchess Stadium.
He then called on security to pull the alleged culprit from the crowd. When the fan appeared on stage, the rapper picked him up and threw him back into the crowd.
A female fan claimed she suffered concussion when the fan landed on her.
Akon’s actions were caught on video and published on the video sharing website YouTube.
He declined to comment when he left Fishkill Town Justice Court today (December 17th).
