Kelis has clarified confusion surrounding her racial abuse incident, stating that it happened in Spain - not the UK.
The singer caused a stir earlier this week when she told her fans on Twitter of her experience receiving racial abuse from a stranger and then proceeding to slam the racial quality in the UK. After being blasted by a member of a racial quality group, Kelis has taken to her Twitter again to clarify exactly what happened.
"Just to clarify, because apparently there's been some confusion. I was in the UK (as always) this time for Bestival (which was great). I took a flight from Gatwick back to Spain so for those fact checkers that is approx 2 n a half to 3 hour flight. I landed in Spain," she wrote.
She continued: "And that's when fat pink faced British guy who was on the plane with me called me a slave and to call him sir. It was at passport control."
"I didn't think to make that clear at the time because I was shaken and furious. Now you know."
Does this clarification make her comments about lack of racial equality less controversial?
